About

Craig started teaching guitar in 2000 and has since worked in many different areas of the music industry. As a guitar teacher he has worked for the Derbyshire city and county council music partnership, Sheffield music service and Harmony music school, were he was head of the guitar department. Through his work as a teacher he has been interviewed for the Guitar Tutor magazine and was featured in the international Guitar Techniques magazine. Recently observed by the Sheffield city council, his lessons were awarded outstanding. As well as teaching, Craig works for the London college of music as an international music examiner.  He has travel across the world examining students and teachers in guitar, bass, and ukulele. Examination tours have included Australia, New Zealand, Greece, and Cyprus to name a few. Recently, Craig has been working with the London college of music to help develop their new guitar syllabus and handbooks. Craig wrote the lead charts for all 9 of the new electric guitar handbooks and has composed two pieces that have been added the acoustic guitar handbooks.

Qualifications:

Craig has gained the Licentiates of the London college of music teaching diploma (LLCMTD) as well as HND performing arts (Music). He is a member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors, Musicians Union and holds a full enhanced DBS certificate. Through his work with the Sheffield music hub he regularly has safeguarding training keeping up to date with new practices. He studied guitar, bass, and popular music theory up to grade 8 level.

Bands

Craig has worked with many different bands and has played countless gigs across the country. Some highlights have been headlining the Tramlines fringe festival at Devonshire green and playing the Sheffield Octagon. Through his work with bands he has played all manner of gigs from theatres, clubs, festivals, award ceremonies, weddings, and holiday camps. He performed at the Cue Ball event, the opening for the world snooker championships and shared the bill with TV presenter Alex Zane at the Freshers Ball taking place at the Octagon.  He has been interviewed and played live on radio and spent time in the recording studio. One of his claims to fame was performing in front of both Prince William and Prince Harry.

Craig has worked with several tribute, cover and original bands over the years. Tribute bands have included – David Bowie, Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley, Gene Pitney, Spinal Tap, Tenacious D, Marc Bolan, Lou Reed and Kate Bush. Cover bands have ranged from Surf music, Celtic, Motown and Rock. He has worked with several original bands including the Broken Saints and currently plays with his long-standing Soul, Funk and Blues band Highway Child. You can see some footage of the band here.
